The Inner Thoughts

The union between God and Israel and the union between Christ and his church help us to determine the very basic of Christian marriage. The   model of God’s love in the church does not just require romantic emotions. Same as with loving one another in the family. It requires the will to see the living Christ among every member and to love them as we want to love Christ himself. To love them means to be willing be meet and see Jesus in them and accompany them wherever they go “…for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.” This love doesn’t mean agreeing with or approving everyone’s idea. On the contrary, it calls us to confront those who do not want to reveal their sin. It is like two people are in the same accident and severely wounded. They did not choose to be in the accident. It happened to them. But they both chose to live the experience in gratitude, love, faithfulness, humility and self-control. These are some of the fruits of holiness. This choice to be holy radically influenced the couple’s lives and the lives of their family and friends. We have a very little control over what happens and what will happen, but we have a lot of control over how we integrate and remember what happens. It is precisely these spiritual choices that determine whether we live our lives with holiness more than happiness.

Those who have done much for others will naturally expect ample rewards and those rewards are received once they have felt the joy and satisfaction of serving the leasts.

Acceptance. This is like accepting a gift from someone. If we accept the gift, we invite someone into our world and we give that gift a place in our own lives. If we also give gift, we expect to see that gift to have a place in the house of someone who accepted it. Gifts become gifts only when they are accepted. However, we sometimes fear of receiving gifts because we don't know how to reciprocat e. Or we sometimes don't appreciate the gift. Perhaps the challenge is we have to know the One who firstly freely give and the One did not expect something in return. Knowing Him will let us realize that He is the source why we are able to give and why we are able to accept gifts. When we recognize Him, we will become aware that gift brings a smile to our lips and makes our fear disappear. Disicplining and Forgiving September 6, 2017, HMC Chapel Service   Matthew 18:15-20 (Philippine Setting) A news headline today started since last week is the impeachment of the one who’s in the highest position in making a law, that is Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. The impeachment complaint was filed last month by Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and then forwarded to Speaker Panteleon Alvares, who will later refer it to the justice committee.  What is the complaint? The betrayal of public trust due graft and corruption. It has been said that Sereno was accused of spending a lot of money for buying a luxury car and spending foreign travel allowances without the approval of the entire court committee.  If the law of the country recognises such kind of regulating actions, the church also does. Since our mind is often preoccupied, our motives often tend to be mixed. We then need to be self-critical and be open to helpful criticisms of others. Consequently, since we need wisdom to choose which step is the most beneficial to all, our life should then be characterised by prayers and this is the greatest of all.
